Heat-Proof Makeup Tips from a Pro Makeup Artist

Hi Beautiful! With this hot weather upon us (finally!), I know how challenging it can be to keep your makeup looking fresh. As a pro makeup artist, I'm here to share my top tips for heat-proof makeup that stays put even in the hottest weather.

1. Prep is Key

Start with clean skin. A thorough cleanse is essential – I love using a clay cleanser to remove dirt and oil. Follow up with a light toner, like Pixi rose toner, to balance your skin. Apply a lightweight moisturiser and an oil-free SPF. Be mindful of your SPF choice to avoid any white flashback in photos. Remember, in hot weather, our skin perspires and secretes more oils, so you might not need as much hydration as usual.

2. Choose the Right Base

While a tinted moisturiser can work great for a light summer look, there are days when you need more coverage. I prefer to use a concealer in the areas I need more coverage, and use a glowy primer like ELF halo glow filter everywhere else (avoiding t-zone).

Prefer foundation? Opt for a lightweight, water-based foundation that won't slide off in the heat. After applying, set it with a fine, loose powder through your T-zone to create a long-lasting base.

3. Perfect Your Powder Application

Powder helps set your makeup, but timing is crucial. Make sure your base isn't still wet when you apply powder to avoid a cakey finish. Use a large face brush to set your makeup, then switch to a smaller brush for precise areas like between the brows, around the nose, and on the chin.

4. Use a Reliable Setting Spray

Setting sprays can be hit or miss, but One Size On 'Til Dawn Waterproof Setting Spray is a game-changer. It ensures your makeup stays put all day, no matter the heat.

5. Blotting Papers

Blotting papers are your best friend for absorbing sweat without disturbing your makeup. I always give blotting papers to my brides, to keep their makeup looking oil-free.

6. Embrace the Bronze

For a stunning hot-weather look, focus on bronzed skin and long lashes. I love to layer Maybelline Sky High Mascara for great lashes and add a hint of golden shadow. Finish with a balmy nude lip or a matte coral – it perfectly complements bronzed skin.

Stay cool and fabulous, and don’t let the heat wave melt your style! Keep these tips in mind, and you'll look flawless all summer long- even if that is only a week...
